The sustainable project of Lavazza Foundation and COSPE to help the producers and the families in Ecuador.
Since 2004, the Giuseppe and Pericle Lavazza Onlus Foundation has been operating in 19 countries and across 3 continents to develop sustainable entrepreneurship and generate an improvement in the living conditions of the entire community it operates in.
Each project also aims product diversification to combat soil impoverishment, and reforestation to promote the conservation of the ecosystem.
Among the initiatives carried out by the Foundation, is one in collaboration with COSPE to help Ecuador invest in the resources that the earth can offer by helping producers and families.
In 2014, the collapse of oil, the reduction in exports and the economic slowdown of some strategic partners, led Ecuador to a situation of crisis that continues today, causing a new increase in poverty and inequality.
For this reason, the Lavazza Foundation and COSPE have entered into a broader project called "Correct Cocoa: strengthening the cocoa and coffee supply chains for Ecuador's food sovereignty" which focuses on the improvement and standardisation of production, the strengthening of associations and the marketing and promotion of agroecology and food sovereignty.
The goal is to strengthen the coffee supply chain in Ecuador, in the provinces of Carchi and Imbabura, optimise the pre- and post-harvest phases, consolidate producer associations, and set up a small roasting company to increase the income of beneficiary families from the sale of coffee by 20%.
